Students acquiring this qualification will be equipped with the necessary competencies to supervise safe and efficient blasting and other associated mining activities in an underground environment.
A limited number of apprenticeship assignments will be awarded to employees for a full-time study opportunity in accordance with the business needs of the Sibanye-Stillwater Beatrix Operation
Pre-selection, application verification and psychometric evaluation will be part of the selection process. All applicants will be subject to clearance review by the South African Police Services as required by the National Explosives Act. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a panel interview and psychometric evaluation. Successful applicants will be notified in writing by SSA Administration, while applicants who do not receive a response to their applications may consider that their application for the Apprenticeship was unsuccessful. HDSAs will be given preference and certain requirements may be relaxed for female applicants, as Sibanye-Stillwater is committed to achieving and maintaining diversity and equity in employment.
The designated person must:
Have a minimum educational certificate of grade 12 or equivalent NQF, with pure mathematics and communication in English, to be accepted in the Blasting Certificate program
Achieve a psychometric assessment result score of 3 or higher
Be declared medically fit for the position and setting, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the appropriate Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Center.
Applicants with the highest aggregate in Pure Mathematics and English in Grade 12
Applicants who obtain a psychometric assessment result score of 4 or higher
Shortlisted applicants must undergo an interview, psychometric evaluation and selection process, which will be considered during the award of the scholarships.
The selection process will not be delayed to accommodate applicants whose selection process is delayed for any reason.
Applicants must upload CVs, certified copies (SAPS) of identification and qualifications online.
Incomplete applications will not be considered for selection.
All foreign qualifications must have SAQA verification
